ABOUT ME

my name is angela – i am a graphic designer based in san jose california, with more than 11 years of experience.

I specialize in creating both print and digital design assets that deliver a cohesive brand experience across all marketing materials—from event program brochures and employee handbooks to engaging social media posts. My goal is to help brands achieve consistent, clear, and compelling visual messaging, no matter where their audience encounters them.

My design journey began at an agency in Gilroy, California, then took me to Skype at the peak of the work-perk movement, and eventually to a local nonprofit where I spent my last full-time role. Each of these experiences gave me unique insights into seeing design through different lenses.

With a degree from San Jose State University and 11 years of experience, I've collaborated with brands like Skype, The Tech Interactive, and Arctic Ice, providing expertise in event, print, and digital design.

on a personal note

I’m owner of Silveira Designs, twin mom, a South Bay native, Portuguese-American, and (former) basketball player.

  • I got my start in graphic design in 2013 during my last year at San Jose State. I quickly volunteered my design skills to local Portuguese organizations and Boards to help them with their design, and to get some experience under my belt. My Portuguese culture has a huge influence on my work and can be seen throughout my projects and clients.

Since then, my work has grown and I have been able to work with multiple nonprofit organizations, small businesses, and larger tech companies on their design needs.

In July of 2023, I said bye-bye to my 9-5 and dove full-time into Silveira Designs and am grateful for the growth my business has had, and the opportunity to design full-time.

Feel free to look through my work, and reach out with any questions or interest in starting a project. I look forward to getting to know you and working with you!

  • Life is wild and twins are wilder. I was blessed to have twins and we quickly went from a family of 2 to 4! They often help me with designs as I often ask for their input on some of my work :)

  • Born and raised in the Bay Area, I am a first generation, Portuguese-American of Azorean parents (Terceira and Pico to be exact). I went through elementary and high school all in the South Bay.

  • My culture was, and still is, a huge part of my upbringing and life. Portuguese was our first language and we participated in all of the cultural festas of our city. This included me being a side-maid for 2 years which meant I got to be in all of the parades that conveniently ran through the summer months. (Yaaayy).

My Portuguese involvement trickled out during high school, but picked right back up in college which included being a part of the Portuguese club and going on a study abroad program over summer.

  • I started playing in the 5th grade through my first 2 years of college, where I attended San Jose City and played basketball there for two years.
    LET’S GO JAGS.

I had a brief transfer to Fresno State, where I attended for 1 year, but quickly transferred back and graduated from San Jose State University B.A. in Graphic Design and a Minor in Portuguese. Go Spartans!

I love basketball and am an LA Sparks Fan. (This was way before the announcement of a Bay Area team so don’t come for me).

HOW DID I GET STARTED
IN DESIGN?

SO GLAD YOU ASKED!

I give 100% kudos to my mom on this one.
I was always into art and drawing growing up, from elementary into high school.

When I got into college, things switched as basketball was my focus.
I quickly got to a point where I needed to pick classes towards a major and for some reason, thought I wanted to go into business marketing. *shrugs*

When I took some pre-requisite classes that involved more math than I anticipated, I said no thank you.

I turned to my mom for advice, and she recommended I look into graphic design.
At the time, we had cousin who was in the industry working for Apple, and my mom thought it fit well with my skill set.

And as they say, that was that!

After basketball, I transferred and started my studies at Fresno State and finished at San Jose State.
So THANK YOU MOM for bringing me here.

are you ready to bring your brand to life with consistent, high-quality design?

We're all human - that's what allows me to truly connect with clients and their projects and business goals. I've found that the most impactful work comes from a deep understanding of both the design needs and the business goals.
