Unpopular Opinion. Your Social Feed Doesn’t Need to Look Curated.

Don’t go for style over substance.

Do you ever see those instagram feeds that just look so color coordinated, everything is matchy-matchy and perfectly planned out?

Every other post is the same style.
There is a pattern within the feed.
Each reel has a thumbnail image that seems to match everything else.

It can be inspiring, but overwhelming at the same time.

Internal thoughts creeping in..

“My page doesn’t look like that.”

“Should it look like that?”

“Where do I even start?”

This may be an unpopular opinion, but guess what, yours doesn’t have to look like that!
Curated feeds were a very popular thing, and some might argue still are.
BUT, the first thing that comes to my mind is a phrase I often hear in alllll the cooking shows I watch:

“Style over substance.”

You never want to have a bunch of stuff that maybe looks nice, but it’s all fluff and nothing of value.

Also, let’s not confuse a social feed that is carefully curated with one that has good branding.
The two are very different.

Don’t get me wrong, they CAN exist at the same time. But don’t assume someone’s curated feed means they have good branding.

I’ll say it again in the case it wasn’t clear:

A curated feed isn’t important.

What is important is to have value to your posts and an established brand that is easily recognizable to your audience.

They should be able to see 1 post and know it’s you, versus needing to see your entire feed at once.

Remember how we’ve been talking about why branding is important and how to create a brand? It’s all connected!

If you already have an established brand, this should come easy.
Your brand messaging, values and visual identity give you the foundations to create consistent social media content.

Just focus on producing value and authentic posts to your audience.

Do this and you’ll find that your social posts will get higher levels of engagement, and you'll build that trust and customer loyalty that we’ve talked about before.

So the next time you’re getting caught up in the trends, take a step back and do what’s right for YOU, your brand, and your audience.
